Can someone explain to me how the cash registers work at Wal-Mart? The checker didn't even look at my coupons. She just scanned them all in at the end of my transaction. I was honest and only gave her non-expired coupons for items that I had purchased and that were correctly sized. What if I had handed her a whole handful of coupons? Would she just have scanned them successfully, or is the cash register smart enough to know whether or not I actually purchased all of those items? At Target, the cashier looked carefully at all of the coupons and dates and amounts before scanning them. I didn't have any problems with that transaction but it just took a little longer. So what's up with Wal-Mart and Target? Smart cash registers and/or smart cashiers?
